The STEMworks™ team is excited to announce that teacher applications are LIVE for the year-long Code.org CS Discoveries and CS Principles curricula training program which kicks off with the five-day event TeacherCon Hawai'i! STEMworks™ is providing this Code.org Professional Learning Program opportunity to qualified teachers for $1,500, which is a 50% discount of the Code.org national rate. Thanks to the generous funding provided by Code.org, teachers may apply today to see if they qualify for a full scholarship (scholarships are available for DOE teachers and limited private school teachers).

  • Program Qualification Requirements

    The Code.org Professional Learning Program participation requirements include:

  • Participation in TeacherCon Hawai'i being held Saturday to Wednesday, June 8-12, 2019 in Honolulu, O'ahu (travel, lodging and dinner is not included)
  • Participation in four (4) One-day Quarterly Academic Workshops to be held between September 2018 to June 2019 in Honolulu, O'ahu (quarterly schedule TBD/travel not included)
  • Working with school admin to ensure course is offered on the 2018-19 master schedule
  • Supporting the recruitment and enrollment of a diverse group of students representative of your school’s student population
  • Meeting course hour requirements
    • CS Discoveries (Grades 6-10) requires 50+ hours of in-class instruction for the semester course or 100+ hours for two semester course
    • CS Principles (Grades 9-12) requires 100+ hours of in-class instructions for the year-long course (CS Principles can be run either as an AP course or as a non-AP course)
