Catherine Twomey Fosnot, EdD, is Professor Emeritus of Education at The City College of New York and Founding Director of Mathematics in the City (MitC), a national center for K – 8 math professional development. She has authored and co-authored many books and articles on mathematics education, including the Young Mathematicians at Work series, the accompanying professional development materials funded by NSF, and the Contexts for Learning Mathematics series for grades K – 6, developed in collaboration with the Freudenthal Institute of Utrecht University in the Netherlands. In addition to her consultation with schools and educators, Dr. Fosnot is currently working on materials on algebra and geometry.
