Connecting with Others

One of the goals of HSTE is to connect members to discuss educational technology issues, best teaching practices, 21st Century learning, and current research.
Ongoing Weekly Connections:

Please join the educational Twitter Chat, #edchatHI.  A Twitter Chat is an hour long discussion that takes place on Twitter. Participants use and follow the hashtag, #edchatHI. The goal of this Twitter chat is to bring individuals living in or from Hawaii together to discuss important and relevant issues related to education at all levels (Pre-K through College). #edchatHI will take place on the first Monday of every month from 6pm to 7pm HST.

Google Rocks! - hosted by Linda Lindsay - Monthly Google+ Hangouts on different topics, on Tuesday at 7PM HST. More info here.

EdTech Mixed Plate - hosted by HSTE Members - Michael, Michelle, Megan, and Rachel - every Sunday night at 8PM. Each episode they share EdTech and Personal Learning Resources. Check the website for archives, upcoming topics, and the calendar of events.

GEG (Google Educators Group) Hawaii Weekly Training Hangouts - Every Monday and Wednesday from 7pm-8pm HST, watch the Google+ LIVE Hangout and participate in a variety of Google Apps for Education and Education related trainings. Ask questions and participate in the discussion!  Link to community and calendar.

Bytemarks Cafe - Every Wednesday from 5pm-6pm HST, on HPR (89.3).  Listen to Burt Lum and Ryan Ozawa talk tech with people from around the island.  You can call in to join the show at 808-941-3689, or you can subscribe to the podcast and listen at your leisure.  Here is a link to the site.

This is a great way to meet others of similar interests and get involved - click here for a list of SIGs.  HSTE members are on the boards of two of the SIGs:
SIG 1 to 1 - works to advance thoughtful proliferation of one-to-one technology in K-16 education.
SIG ETC (Educational Technology Coaches) - promotes the development and collaboration of educational technology coaches.

Other Collaborative Networks:

Schools of the Future Hawaii Google+ Community - A collaborative network that was just started from the people involved in the Schools of the Future grant initiative.  Everyone is welcome to join.

Google Educator's Group (GEG) Hawaii ACE21 - This group was formerly knows as the Hawaii GAFE Community but we are transitioning to a GEG so we can expand the reach and impact of our group to included other GEGs from around the world. 

Schools of the Future Ning Site - A collaborative network started as part of the Schools of the Future grant initiative with over 600 members.

iPad Educational Dreams - Started by Josh Reppun, a HSTE member, this Facebook group has over 350 members and is devoted to the use of iPads in the classroom.
